Education Support Specialist

A team member in this position provides support to the classroom teacher and facilitates pupil instruction.? Team members in this position work to provide necessary instruction, training, services and individual attention to pupils.? The assistant is monitored by the teacher in charge of the class, who, with their supervisor, reviews the work through observation and conferences.



  • To support the teacher with:


o??? individual and group instruction and daily lesson assignments


o??? establishing instructional goals and objectives; testing and evaluating student programs


o??? various phases of behavior modification and classroom management programs


o??? preparing materials & resources, correcting assignments, organizing learning centers and bulletin boards


o??? performing related work as required


????????? Ability to instruct students in an effective manner.


????????? Communicate with teachers and support team members.


????????? Assumes responsibility for the class and instructional activities in teacher?s absence.


????????? Monitors students during non instructional activities during the school day (example: breakfast & lunch duty, etc.)


????????? Effectively monitors students during transitional periods to ensure the smooth running of scheduled activities.


????????? Effectively manages student behavior in accordance with established agency behavior management policies and treatment needs of each student.


????????? Actively participates at scheduled team member meetings and serves on educational committees.


Education/Experience Requirements:


Bachelor?s Degree with teacher qualification is preferred, but not required or a minimum of two years of college in the education field or a High school diploma with three years experience working in education related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


????????? Valid driver?s license from the state in which you reside in and proof of car insurance


????????? Knowledge of the general principles of learning and child development as they apply to the exceptional child


Knowledge of curriculum and instructional materials



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
